Laura Cowan
Contemporary designer Laura Cowan began her career in London creating futuristic jewelery
pieces. She now brings her unique ideas to the field of Judaica, working from her design studio
and workshop in Tel Aviv.

“My recent work is based on a rocket shape. I was inspired by the Sixties mission to land a man
on the moon. Although this was achieved even before I was born, I was fascinated by the hype
and excitement generated by the race to the moon. I also loved the irony of a futuristic design
based on what is now history.”

Laura's fresh ideas contribute to a new wave of exciting Judaica design, shaking up the
traditional market and generating worldwide interest. Her work is exhibited in galleries and
museums worldwide - America, Canada, Israel, England, Italy, Sweden and Australia.
Apple and Honey Plate by Laura Cowan

A pure and simple design inspired by Japanese table ware. The 2 parts are created in
contrasting finishes - the apple platter is made in brushed anodized aluminum and engraved
with Shana Tova in Hebrew and English. The honey dish is made in polished stainless steel.
Both metals retain their finish and are easy to clean.

12.9" x 12.9"

The Seder plate is inspired by the craters on the moon’s surface. I designed the Seder plate to combine
geometric with organic by softening the square shape of the plate with the round indentations. By the nature of
the creative process the shape is slightly different each time and no two pieces are identical. The Seder plate is
made from polished aluminum.
